Free Student Tickets for 'Immediate Theatre'
Free student tickets are available for the upcoming SLU Theatre and Dance show, entitled "Immediate Theatre: An Emerging Directors' Showcase."
"Immediate Theatre" is a production of several short plays, each directed by an emerging artist in the SLU Theatre and Dance Program. It is the culmination of the Program’s advanced directing course.
Under the mentorship of the faculty and staff, each advanced directing student selects, casts, and stages an entire play. The students engage with a full production team and with one another to present their fully realized works in repertory within a single production. The result is daring, exuberant, and collaborative.
This production is presented in two parts. Part one will take place on Thursday, Nov. 13 and Saturday, Nov. 15 and includes the plays "The Proposal" by Anton Chekhov, "How Much Is Your Iron?" by Bertolt Brecht, "Rough Theatre II" by Samuel Beckett, and "Antigone "by Mac Wellman.
Part two takes place on Friday, Nov. 14 and Sunday, Nov. 16 and includes "The Still Alarm" by George S. Kaufman, "Trojan Women" by Euripides, and "1969 Terminal 1996" by Susan Yankowitz.
Showtimes are Thursday to Saturday at 7 p.m. with a Sunday matinée at 1 p.m. All performances take place in the Xavier Hall Main Stage Theatre.
Student directors include Lorelei Beck, James Bryce, Brendan Gilchrist, David Joseph, Ava Kasten, Madelyn Purcell, and Lottie Wheeler. The overall production is led by Associate Professor Lucy Cashion and is sponsored by Marianne Muellerleile.
The cast includes Ashley Brooks, Uju Emedo, Levi Galligher, Nichole Goebel, Nathan Koons, Emma Lyons, Billy Murphy, Damian Sapp, Anna Soeder, and Naiyah Taylor.
Free tickets are available for SLU students at the door beginning one hour before each performance. Discounted tickets are available for SLU faculty and staff through Metrotix and at the door. Seating is general admission.
