The William L. Clay, Sr. Institute of Economic Justice and Civic Engagement Hosting Open House
The William L. Clay, Sr. Institute of Economic Justice and Civic Engagement is hosting an open house from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, in the Center for Global Citizenship, Suite 138, at Saint Louis University.
The open house is an opportunity to learn about the work of the new Institute housed in the Center for Social Action, within the Division of Diversity and Innovative Community Engagement.
The William L. Clay, Sr. Institute of Civic Engagement and Economic Justice at Saint Louis University serves as the hub for students, faculty, staff and alumni to become more involved in the democratic process at the local, state, and federal levels.
Through innovative SLU student leadership programs, community-engaged scholarship around issues of justice, and the voter engagement process, the institute works to effect long-term, systemic change that will make our communities stronger and ensure all voices are heard.
The Clay Institute is grounded in SLU's Catholic, Jesuit identity. It invites the campus community to become more involved in various Catholic social teachings, such as the call to family, community and participation, and the dignity of work and the rights of workers, among others. Additionally, the Institute provides an opportunity to engage around the Jesuits' Universal Apostolic Preference of walking with the excluded, as we work toward a more just society.
In true open house format, guests can come when they are able and enjoy refreshment, hors d'oeuvres, and networking with campus colleagues, elected officials, and community partners. Remarks will begin at 5:15 p.m. from the Clay family and university representatives.
Register to attend by Monday, Nov. 3, 2025. For further details, contact Nia.Duke@slu.edu.
