Secure a Luminary to be Displayed at the University Memorial Mass

This fall, the Saint Louis University community can remember a loved one through a memorial gift, and a luminary will be displayed at an upcoming Mass commemorating the faithful departed. Contributions can support any SLU fund that is meaningful to donors or their loved ones.

Luminaries bearing the names of the departed will shine on the St. Francis Xavier College Church altar steps at SLU’s annual University Memorial Mass, held at noon on Monday, Nov. 3. SLU Remembers donors are invited, and the SLU community is welcome to attend. Those who cannot be there in person can join virtually via SLU’s Campus Ministry livestream.

“This special Mass with the luminaries has taken place since 2018,” said Danielle Christopher, Saint Louis University’s assistant director of philanthropy. “We wanted to create a memorable way to honor those we’ve lost in our community, and Campus Ministry has helped us with that by planning the liturgy every year. Those who have had a luminary made have told us how much it means to them that SLU remembers their loved ones in such a simple and beautiful way.”

Sign up by Monday, Oct. 27, to reserve one or more luminaries. Donors are invited to take their luminaries with them after the Mass.

Individuals who would like to honor the memory of a loved one without making a gift for a luminary can complete this form. Campus Ministry will include their names in the book of prayers, ensuring that they are remembered and prayed for throughout November by the Saint Louis University community.
