Barry Goldwater Scholarship Competition is Open

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship for research in STEM fields is open. Current sophomores and juniors in STEM fields may submit an application.

Each campus can nominate four students to the national competition. To facilitate campus review, the campus deadline for consideration for a SLU endorsement is Monday, Dec. 1. In order to be considered, applicants must submit the pre-application form on the Goldwater website. SLU’s Office of Competitive Scholarship and Fellowship Advising will open advising hours for Goldwater in October.

The Goldwater Foundation will host Open House sessions specifically for students on  Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 3 p.m.

At the sessions on Sept. 17, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with current Goldwater Scholars; at the Nov. 5 session, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with Goldwater reviewers. The Office of Competitive Scholarships and Fellowships will host a virtual information session with a SLU Goldwater recipient on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.

Students who would like access to the information session links or additional directions for advising should join the Competitive Scholarships and Fellowships Canvas page.
