SLU Clinches First in Collegiate Chess League
SLU clinched first place in the Division 1 2026 Collegiate Chess League regular season and has qualified for the playoffs.
The SLU A team went 6-1 in the open season with a dominant 11.5 - 4.5 victory over Mizzou in the last match. This victory allows SLU a round one bye going into the playoff for the collegiate chess championship.
The SLU A team MVP was Viktor Gazik, who has scored 11 wins and two draws out of the last 12 games.
SLU won both the US Team Rapid Championships and the US Team Blitz Championship.
WGM Thalia Cervantes became the 2026 US Collegiate Women's Blitz Champion after a five-way tie for first.
