Wassel to Speak at Friday Mass and Speaker Event
Saint Louis University’s Office of Mission and Identity's next Mass and Speaker Event will be Friday, May 8. The event will feature Bobby Wassel, Ph.D., who will speak on how his work in the VITAS program and University CORE exemplifies the Apostolic Preference of journeying with youth toward a hope-filled future.
The gathering will begin with Mass at noon followed by lunch and a presentation, and will take place at Boileau Hall.
VITAS (Vocational Inquiry Through Advocacy and Service) is a personal and professional development program that focuses on vocational discernment among SLU’s undergraduate students, particularly as it relates to their experiences engaging in community service and advocacy. The program’s guiding vision—“Where your greatest passions meet the world’s greatest needs,” a phrase coined by theologian Frederick Buechner—captures the spirit of this work.
The Saint Louis University Core is a required, shared academic experience for all undergraduate students that fosters intellectual flexibility, creativity, and reflective critical thinking in the Catholic, Jesuit tradition. It emphasizes whole-person formation, encouraging students to discern their gifts, serve others, and find God in all things.
Attendees are encouraged to stay for lunch and the presentation as we reflect together on fostering purpose, accompaniment, and hope in the lives of students.
Register for the event by filling out the Google form or emailing jesuitmission@slu.edu.
