SLULaunch Meeting Will Be September 2
SLULaunch, offered by the Chaifetz Center for Entrepreneurship, gives students the opportunity to take an idea beyond the classroom and explore what it could become.
The first meeting of the semester will be from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, in Cook Hall 230.
For projects, students don’t need a business plan, don’t need to know exactly where an idea is headed, and don’t even need to think of themselves as an entrepreneur. Instead, SLULaunch is looking or anyone curiosity, an idea worth exploring, or a problem to solve.
Through SLULaunch, students from different disciplines will form teams to develop and test ideas, explore real market opportunities and learn how concepts can become real-world ventures. Along the way, they'll work with faculty, industry professionals and mentors and gain hands-on experience in:
- Identifying and framing problems worth solving
- Exploring and validating potential solutions
- Conducting customer and market research
- Building and testing prototypes
- Developing a pitch and telling the story
- Understanding financials, funding, intellectual property and legal considerations
- Exploring marketing, sales and growth strategies
SLULaunch meets every other Wednesday from 5 p.m. to to 6:30 p.m. and culminates in a Spring Demo Day, where student teams will pitch their ideas to faculty mentors and advisors. Students can participate for one credit hour or as an extracurricular experience.
