'You Are Not Alone' Prayer Vigil Is March 7

Campus Ministry is inviting the SLU Community to attend a prayer vigil outside of the ICE Detention Center located in the Archdiocese of St. Louis,  housed in the Ste Genevieve County Jail. The vigil will take place from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

In the November 2025 “Special Message” addressing their concern for the evolving situation impacting immigrants in the United States, Archbishop Rozanski and his brother Bishops of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops stated the following:

“To our immigrant brothers and sisters, we stand with you in your suffering, since, when one member suffers, all suffer (cf.1Corinthians 12:26). You are not alone!”

In that spirit, Campus Ministry is inviting the SLU community to attend a prayer vigil outside of the ICE Detention Center in the Ste Genevieve County Jail. After the vigiil, the group will gather for lunch and fellowship.

There is no cost for the lunch but a free will offering will be taken up to support Abide in Love Ste Genevieve.

There will also be free coach transportation from the St Louis area. Registration in advance is requested, especially for anyone going to stay for lunch and/or requires transportation to the vigil.

This prayer vigil is sponsored by the Archdiocese of St. Louis, area religious congregations and the Division for Mission and Ministry.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend.  For more information, contact Sue Chawszczewski at susanne.chawszczewski@slu.edu
