Jesuit Superior General Visits USA Central and Southern Province

Jesuits and colleagues of the USA Central and Southern Province welcomed Superior General Arturo Sosa Abascal, S.J., for his province visitation January 26 – February 12, 2026.

After visiting the novices of the Jesuits USA Central and Southern (UCS) Province in Denver, Father General Sosa was in St. Louis January 28 and 29. The seat of the UCS Province, St. Louis is also home to the largest number of Jesuits and Jesuit works in the province, including Saint Louis University, St. Louis University High School, De Smet Jesuit High School, Loyola Academy of St. Louis, White House Jesuit Retreat Center and St. Francis Xavier College Church. 

The USA Central and Southern (UCS) Province serves in 13 states, Puerto Rico and Belize and has approximately 305 men who serve as pastors, administrators, educators, spiritual and retreat directors and in other roles. 

During his visit, Fr. General met with senior Jesuits, as well as Jesuits in formation from around the United States, Canada and the Caribbean who are studying at Saint Louis University. At St. Ignatius Hall and Bellarmine House of Studies, respectively, he offered brief presentations, responded to questions and enjoyed a meal with his brother Jesuits.
