Recruitment for Age-Friendly Clinical Externship Program Opens February 2
The Age-Friendly Clinical Externship is a paid, interprofessional summer opportunity designed for students who are passionate about improving care for older adults while gaining hands-on clinical experience in real-world settings.
This 8-week, 20-hours-per-week externship offers participants the chance to work alongside diverse healthcare professionals in age-friendly primary care and geriatric settings, including ambulatory clinics, post-acute and long-term care, and SLUCare family and geriatric medicine sites.
Through integrated didactic and clinical training, students will build practical skills at the intersection of medical, mental health, and community-based care for aging populations.
Externs receive a $1,000 stipend, gain invaluable interprofessional experience, and leave with a stronger understanding of team-based, comprehensive geriatric care—an asset no matter where your career takes you. We are recruiting graduate and upper-division undergraduate (junior/senior) students across disciplines such as nursing, social work, psychology, public health, occupational therapy, physical therapy, medicine, nutrition/dietetics, and more.
Recruitment opens Monday, Feb. 2, 2026. Applications are due Monday, March 2, 2026
