Information Technology Services Announces First Faculty Cybersecurity Champion Award Winner
John Throgmorton, Ph.D., assistant professor of Chemistry, is the first winner of the Information Technology Services' faculty Cybersecurity Champion award.
This recognition honors individuals who consistently champion proactive cybersecurity practices, such as promptly reporting suspected security incidents, completing cybersecurity training, actively engaging in monthly “Catch the Phish” challenges, and promoting best practices at SLU.
Throgmorton has demonstrated exceptional commitment to cybersecurity by:
- Completing assigned cybersecurity training modules.
- Detecting and reporting every simulated phishing attempt without clicking any malicious links.
- Identifying and reporting real phishing emails to the SLU Aware team.
Throgmorton’s commitment to cybersecurity awareness and his diligence in reporting suspicious emails play an important role in protecting the University from phishing threats.
