Brinker to Speak at Next Mass and Speaker Series Event

The Saint Louis University Division of Mission and Identity will host the April Mass and Speaker Series event at noon on Friday, April 10, in Boileau Hall. The event begins with Mass at noon, followed by a complimentary lunch and featured presentation.

Following lunch, attendees will hear from David Brinker, Director of the Museum of Contemporary Religious Art (MOCRA), who will present a retrospective on the museum’s 30-year history.

This gathering offers an opportunity for faculty, staff, students, and friends of the University to come together in shared reflection, conversation, and spiritual enrichment.

Brinker will explore the dynamic intersection of faith and contemporary artistic expression—an approach that has shaped MOCRA’s identity and mission since its founding. In his presentation, Brinker will connect the evolution of contemporary religious art with the Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus:

Brinker will highlight how modern religious art engages each of these preferences, offering pathways for dialogue, reflection, and deeper understanding. In particular, he will emphasize how the arts help Show the Way to God, inviting viewers to encounter the sacred in new, surprising, and profoundly meaningful ways.

The event is free and open to the SLU community and guests. Registration is requested.
