Simon Recreation Center Hosting Open Hours for Faculty and Staff
In collaboration with the Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness and Human Resources, Saint Louis University faculty and staff have an opportunity to prioritize wellness this summer with open recreation hours and a featured group fitness class at the Simon Recreation Center.
Running from June 1 through July 31, the “Refuel & Recharge” summer initiative invites faculty and staff to take advantage of the Rec Center’s facilities and amenities during designated days.
Faculty and staff can access the facilities on Tuesdays and Thursdays and any time during regular hours of operation, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., by simply presenting their SLU ID or any legal form of photo identification upon entry.
In addition to open recreation, the program offers a structured way to stay active with a weekly Core Strength fitness class led by SLU’s Employee Wellness Coordinator and Group Fitness instructor, Rachel Donahue. This class focuses on building total-body strength through functional movements designed to improve balance, stability, and everyday performance.
The Core Strength class will be held on Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. in Multipurpose Room 1 at the Simon Recreation Center, beginning Thursday, June 4. Register for the class in advance to attend.
The Simon Recreation Center offers various ways to stay active including indoor and outdoor pools, an indoor track, six multipurpose gym courts — including pickleball lines, and extensive fitness space for cardio and strength training. The pool hours of operation are:
- Indoor Pool Hours: Tuesday and Thursday: 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- SLUruba (Outdoor Pool) Hours: Tuesday and Thursday: Noon to 6 p.m.
The Laclede Garage is open to individuals with a general parking permit from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily.
Faculty and staff who are interested in memberships or have questions about memberships can email the Campus Recreation and Wellness’ Member Services Coordinator, Brenna Lacey.
