Goldwater Scholarship Application for Undergraduate Research in STEM Is Open
The Barry Goldwater Scholarship for research in STEM fields is open. Current sophomores and juniors in STEM fields may submit an application.
Each campus can nominate four students to the national competition. To facilitate our campus review, the campus deadline for consideration for a SLU endorsement is Dec. 1.
In order to be considered, applicants must submit the Interest Form on the Goldwater website. Students who are interested in applying this cycle should submit their interest form by Saturday, Oct. 31. SLU’s Office of Competitive Scholarship and Fellowship Advising is also currently offering advising hours for Goldwater.
The Goldwater Foundation will host a student-focused Open House will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, at 3 p.m. This session will give students an opportunity to meet with Goldwater reviewers and ask questions about the application and review process. Students will benefit most if they have already begun working on their Goldwater applications and come prepared with specific questions about how to strengthen their responses.
Students who would like access to the information session links or additional directions
for advising should join the Competitive Scholarships and Fellowships Canvas page ()
Faculty and staff who are interested in supporting SLU’s application process can fill
out this interest form or email rebecca.muich@slu.edu.
