Mission and Identity to Host Immersion Trip

The Division for Mission and Identity will host an immersive experience for faculty and staff to Klagetoh, Arizona, in the heart of the Navajo Nation, from June 5-12, 2027.

The visit will include experiences of Navajo history, storytelling, spirituality, and contemporary social realities, as well as visits to sacred landscapes such as the Painted Desert and Canyon de Chelly.

Preparations for the visit will include two to three meetings to build community, as well as advance readings about contemporary issues in Native America. The trip will include daily shared reflection on experiences, and all participants will be asked attend the Catholic Mass on Sunday morning to more fully engage with the local community.

Faculty and staff of any religious backgrounds are weclome.

The cost is $400, but finances should not inhibit participation. For questions or to apply,  contact Patrick Cousins, Director of Pastoral Formation, at patrick.cousins@slu.edu.

The deadline to apply is Friday, Jan. 1, 2027.
