The Search for SLU's Next EVP and Provost
Saint Louis University (SLU), a nationally recognized Jesuit research university with a thriving global footprint, invites nominations and applications for the role of executive vice president and provost (EVPP).
Building on strong institutional momentum — including recent R1 status, a $2 billion-plus endowment, a flourishing Madrid campus, and a well-balanced portfolio of liberal arts, sciences, and professional programs — SLU seeks a collaborative, future-focused, and institutionally ambitious academic leader to partner with the president in advancing student success, faculty excellence, and mission-driven impact.
This is a pivotal moment as SLU sharpens university-wide strategy and strengthens its culture of collaboration — connecting academic vision and administrative execution to ensure that resources, systems, and decision-making processes move in concert with the University's aspirations.
The new EVPP will be formally charged to convene and align senior leaders across units, even where lines of reporting differ. This leader will work closely with the president to build and support a leadership team skilled in translating vision into action, embracing shared governance, and embedding institutional rhythms of strategic planning, budgeting, portfolio clarity, and shared accountability for results.
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker and trusted partner — an academic leader of stature who combines intellectual distinction with operational acumen, and who inspires confidence through integrity, humility, and a collaborative spirit. This individual will bring the ability to convene across boundaries, galvanize teams toward shared purpose, respect shared governance, and translate aspiration into measurable progress.
