Almost Home provides transitional housing to teenage mothers and their children who are homeless so they have the skills they need to become productive members of society.

- Child Care Volunteer: Almost Home offers weekly and monthly childcare opportunities for volunteers interested in working with children in a childcare setting. As a part of small group of volunteers, you will play, teach, and care for kids (between the ages of 6 months and 8 years old) while their moms attend life-skills class onsite. The position has flexible commitment requirements and can accommodate personal schedules including single monthly shifts. Hours for childcare are consistent throughout the year except during holidays and special events.

- Front Desk Assistant: Almost Home offers daily volunteer opportunities for volunteers interested in working at our front desk. The Front Desk volunteer is responsible for answering phones, welcoming guests, distributing collateral, assisting members, and regulating entrance to the building.

- Meal Preparation: Prepare meals for moms and their children.

- Tutoring/Life Skills: Help our residents with like skill development, school work, studying, resume building, job applications, etc.

- Case Management Assistant: Help with case management, resident follow up, benefit applications, employment/housing searches, etc.

To house unhoused or housing insecure individuals in small, communal settings where they are treated with dignity & respect.

- Quarterly Maintenance/Rehab Weekends: Work with a team of volunteers to maintain our houses so they reflect the care and dignity we seek to provide via painting, yard maintenance, etc.

- Hospitality Crew: Regularly scheduled deep cleanings of the houses.

- Accompaniment Volunteer: Volunteers get matched with a resident of Assisi House for the purpose of relationship and accompaniment to walk with residents as they work toward their goals.

All opportunities are flexible and up to the schedule of the volunteer.

Beyond Housing's mission is to strengthen neighborhoods, one family at a time. We do this by providing affordable housing, helping families achieve and sustain homeownership, fostering the well-being of families, and identifying and addressing neighborhood needs.

- Home Repair: Performance of routine property maintenance on single family homes that are included in our "Service Enriched Rental Housing Program" for low-income families. Dates and times are arranged on a project by project basis.

- Homework Assistance and Tutoring: Work with students in after school program to assist with homework. Monday-Friday afternoons.

- Food Pantry: Assist food pantry coordinator with sorting and preparing food products once per month for the monthly food pantry. Distribute food to an average 100 families each month at the pantry. Thursdays any time.

- Home Repair: Dates and times are arranged on a project by project basis.

Covenant House Missouri welcomes youth who are runaway, trafficked, at-risk, or experiencing homelessness with unconditional love, absolute respect and a place to call home. Beyond shelter and basic needs, we deliver transformative solutions to help young people ages 16 to 24 build productive, independent and sustainable lives.

DOORWAYS is an interfaith non-profit organization which provides housing and related supportive services to improve quality of life and health outcomes for people affected by HIV/AIDS.

- Activity/Event Assistant: Assist Doorways’ Activities Coordinator by leading and participating in recreational activities for residents. Assist residents with activities, arts and crafts, field trips and other activities. Plan, coordinate and participate in special events and fundraising activities of Doorways.

- Tutor/Mentor: Provide children in our family residential program with academic enrichment activities. Grow into a mentor and make a difference in a child’s life by offering friendship, support and positive reinforcement.

- Skilled Volunteer: Perform duties to improve our residents’ mind and body health. These opportunities include pastoral care, support groups, hair care, yoga, low or no-impact exercise, meditation, nail care, massage therapy, reflexology, and Reiki.

- Companion: Spend quality time with residents by visiting in public areas of the building, assist with letter writing, go on field trips, take a walk and host or eat meals in the dining room.

- Guest Relations Assistant: Assist staff by welcoming and directing guests, monitoring the front door and signing residents and visitors in and out of the building.

EnergyCare provides energy-related services for low-income families with elderly, disabled, chronically ill and young children to enable a healthier and safer environment in their homes, and to protect against the effects of extreme weather.

- Home Weatherization: Perform weatherization and repairs on windows and doors homes in need. Perfect for small groups!

- Intake Counselor: Interview clients by phone who request assistance, to determine what services can be provided.

- Outreach Counselor: Provide follow-up year round to Energy Care clients to check on status and well-being.

Gateway Homeless Services provides safe, secure and nurturing shelter services that empower homeless women children and families to move into transitional and independent housing.

- Kitchen Aid: Volunteer to help our primary kitchen workers to prepare meals.

- Child Care: Parents attend career development classes and volunteers are needed to play with roughly 30 children.

- Intake Volunteer: Assist staff with the client intake process.

- Donation/Store Organization: Volunteers maintain a store of household items for families. Clients earn Gateway Bucks to spend at the store. Volunteers help with restocking and organizing shelves and labeling prices.

The Grace and Peace Winter Shelter has been offering temporary, overnight shelter during the colder months to homeless women of St. Louis since 1986.

Volunteers needed to cook and serve meals to homeless women staying at the shelter. Overnight volunteers also needed to assist staff member in overseeing shelter, helping with intake, clean-up, laundry, etc.

Any day of the week, 6 p.m.-9 p.m.. Overnight volunteer works from 6 p.m.-6am. Shelter only open from November thru March.

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

- General Build Volunteer: Help construct homes at the build site from March-October. Full day Commitment required .

- ReStore Volunteer: Volunteers help with a range of tasks in the ReStore. Assignments vary from receiving and stock, recycling and deconstruction, inventory preparation, and customer service volunteers.

Serving women who are young, pregnant and homeless, The Haven of Grace provides a safe, nurturing home, educational programs and long-term support for mother and child. Founded in faith, we instill hope, dignity and the pride of independence, one family at a time.

- Childcare Volunteer: The Child Care Assistant provides babysitting in The Haven’s playroom or playgrounds, allowing the mothers to attend classes in the classroom and giving the mothers respite during non-class times.

- Front Desk Volunteer: The Receptionist works with members of The Haven of Grace staff in answering phone calls, greeting visitors, and maintaining safety through screening all visitors. (Must be willing to commit to 4 weeks at a time) Timing is flexible, can be from 1-4 p.m. or 2-5 p.m. if necessary.

The Housing Partnership works to promote and enhance the quality of life in the community by creating a healthy and economically sustainable living environment for families. We accomplish this by collaborating and partnering with residents, businesses, educational institutions, and local government.

Labre is animated by the central goal of using food as an excuse for relationships. Internally, we as SLU students come together and cook so as to grow in fellowship and community. Following, we send students on various routes throughout the city of St. Louis so as to share in conversation and friendship with those experiencing homelessness.

Cook meals and then deliver them to people living on the streets of St. Louis.

Missionaries of Charity, a programs sponsored by the Sisters of Blessed Teresa, provide support and outreach to women and children who are experiencing homelessness and poverty.

- After-School Program: Volunteers help assist the sisters with the after-school program for young children. Once children are dropped off from their school, they stay from 3:30 p.m. until around 6 p.m.. We prepare food for the kids, provide activities for the kids to play, provide Catechesis for them, and pray with them.

- Sunday Mass Program: Volunteers help assist and drive kids, several of whom are refugees, from the apartment housing on Hodiamont Ave. to Mass at various Catholic Churches in the city. Volunteers meet the sisters and the children at the housing on Hodiamont Ave. and will drive several kids to Mass at nearby Catholic Churches. Volunteers will help feed the children before or after Mass.

Our Lady's Inn provides pregnant women and their children shelter and hope for a new life through humble acts of love.

- Thrift Store Volunteer: Work in our thrift store merchandising, tagging and hanging clothing.

Peter and Paul Community Services provides housing and supportive services to those who are homeless, especially those who are living with a mental illness or HIV/AIDS.

- Shelter Volunteer: At our Emergency Shelter, volunteers help the staff and the clients by passing out toiletries and towels, socializing with clients and serving a meal. The meal is either one that the volunteer/s created or one that another volunteer group or staff member made.

Remote opportunities include:

- Write thank you notes to our staff and notes of encouragement to our clients who are missing interaction from our volunteer.

- Social media ambassador.

Sponsored by the Sisters of Divine Providence, Room at the Inn provides emergency shelter and a stabilizing support system to women and families in need in St. Louis County, using a collaborative, interfaith effort of congregations and organizations throughout the St. Louis Region.

- Child Care Volunteers: Volunteers would plan and help supervise recreational activities for groups/individuals by using arts and crafts, videos, board games and the playground.

- Site Volunteers: Volunteers would assist with cleaning and sanitizing various areas of the shelter, sort donations, stock shelving, loading and unloading.

- Mentors: Volunteers would act as role models, provide emotional, social, and physical support, and assist clients in his/her effort to reach a specific goal.

ID Progam: Volunteers are needed for our Tuesday ID program, where we assist individuals who are homeless with obtaining their needed documents such as birth certificates, social security cards, etc. Assist with either direct support with clients or helping to set-up the ballroom space, greeting, bathroom/hall monitor, etc. Training and ample on-site support will be provided. All CDC and social distancing protocols will be followed.

St. Patrick Center provides opportunities for self-sufficiency and dignity to persons who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Individuals achieve permanent, positive changes in their lives through affordable housing, sound mental health, employment and financial stability.
