ALIVE provides counseling, emergency sanctuary, and other critical services to adults and children who have been impacted by domestic abuse. ALIVE seeks to increase awareness in order to create a supportive community.

- Crisis Line Volunteer: Assists with answering crisis line phones. Requires 40-50 hours of training – included crisis intervention skills, agency requirements and policies, Intimate Partner Violence dynamics and more. A commitment of 6-10 hours weekly is desired.

Almost Home provides transitional housing to teenage mothers and their children who are homeless so they have the skills they need to become productive members of society.

- Child Care Volunteer: Almost Home offers weekly and monthly childcare opportunities for volunteers interested in working with children in a childcare setting. As a part of small group of volunteers, you will play, teach, and care for kids (between the ages of 6 months and 8 years old) while their moms attend life-skills class onsite. The position has flexible commitment requirements and can accommodate personal schedules including single monthly shifts. Hours for childcare are consistent throughout the year except during holidays and special events.

- Front Desk Assistant: Almost Home offers daily volunteer opportunities for volunteers interested in working at our front desk. The Front Desk volunteer is responsible for answering phones, welcoming guests, distributing collateral, assisting members, and regulating entrance to the building.

- Meal Preparation: Prepare meals for moms and their children.

- Tutoring/Life Skills: Help our residents with like skill development, school work, studying, resume building, job applications, etc.

Founded in 1988, Community Women Against Hardship. Inc. (CWAH) is a volunteer organization dedicated to providing programs and basic services to improve the quality of life for women and children struggling with poverty issues. CWAH assesses the most critical needs of each family and then provides the resources to address those needs, whether it be for food, clothing, emergency shelter, transitional housing, workshops to improve parent and youth relationships, health and nutritional outreach, and/or educational programs to enhance academic achievement and employability.

Diamond Diva Empowerment Foundation (2DEF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating, strengthening, and empowering women and children affected by domestic violence and various socio-economic conditions. Our purpose is to be a necessary resource to women and children; primarily focusing on those who have experienced the effects of domestic violence. We will accomplish this by aiding them to rebuild from the inside out and to reevaluate themselves. Through our program women are able to freely walk a journey of life, truly recovered and healed from domestic violence and other socioeconomic struggles.

Gateway Homeless Services provides safe, secure and nurturing shelter services that empower homeless women children and families to move into transitional and independent housing.

- Kitchen Aid: Volunteer to help our primary kitchen workers to prepare meals.

Girls in the Know's (GITK) Mission is to empower girls to embrace a strong sense of self with a vision that every girl will know - I AM ENOUGH!

- Speakers: We are always in need of speakers to lead our workshops. GITK speakers are licensed professional women in the following professions: Therapist/Counselors, Dietician/Nutritionist, Police Officers, OBGYN/Nurse Practitioners. Our workshops last 1-1.5 hours.

We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

- Assistant Coach: Facilitate the Girls on the Run programming at a school or park in our territory. Coaches are needed to help with the program once or twice a week for 75-90 minute practices during the 8 week season. Practice times vary by site.

The Grace and Peace Winter Shelter has been offering temporary, overnight shelter during the colder months to homeless women of St. Louis since 1986.

Volunteers needed to cook and serve meals to homeless women staying at the shelter. Overnight volunteers also needed to assist staff member in overseeing shelter, helping with intake, clean-up, laundry, etc.

Any day of the week, 6 p.m.-9 p.m.. Overnight volunteer works from 6 p.m.-6am. Shelter only open from November thru March.

Serving women who are young, pregnant and homeless, The Haven of Grace provides a safe, nurturing home, educational programs and long-term support for mother and child. Founded in faith, we instill hope, dignity and the pride of independence, one family at a time.

- Childcare Volunteer: The Child Care Assistant provides babysitting in The Haven’s playroom or playgrounds, allowing the mothers to attend classes in the classroom and giving the mothers respite during non-class times.

- Front Desk Volunteer: The Receptionist works with members of The Haven of Grace staff in answering phone calls, greeting visitors, and maintaining safety through screening all visitors. (Must be willing to commit to 4 weeks at a time) Timing is flexible, can be from 1-4 p.m. or 2-5 p.m. if necessary.

Hawthorn Leadership School for Girls provides a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment that enables young women from diverse backgrounds to achieve academic success in a college preparatory program and to become leaders in their communities and professions.

- General Classroom Volunteer: Volunteer will assist in the classroom as directed by the teacher. This could include working with students, preparing classroom materials, putting up bulletin boards, facilitating classroom projects, etc.

- Hawthorn Reader: Volunteer will read one on one with a middle school student during their independent reading time, and implement reading interventions with students as necessary.

- Voyager Math Tutor: Volunteer will tutor small groups of middle school students on specific math skills to help get the students performing on grade level. Some level of math experience is required and comfortability in small group behavior management.

- Library Volunteer: Volunteer will work in the library labeling books, taking inventory, assisting students to find books, organizing and rearranging books and other items. An additional training is required for all library volunteers.

Center for Women in Transition assists women in the criminal justice system because change is possible.

- Community Resource Volunteer: Assist with compiling resources in the St. Louis area for community members on specific issues such as homelessness, domestic violence victims, etc.

- Pro-social event facilitator: Organize and facilitate a monthly or bi-monthly activity for our participants! Event facilitators host cooking classes, arts and crafts nights, movie nights, journaling sessions, and book clubs to provide healthy, social activities for our participants to engage in.

Our organization provides support to newly arrived refugees and immigrants in the Greater St. Louis Area. Our goal is to serve these families by helping them connect with each other and the greater Saint Louis community.

Marian Middle School (MMS), a non-profit 501(c)3, located in the City of St. Louis, is committed to breaking the cycle of poverty by fostering the spiritual, academic, social, moral, emotional and physical development of adolescent girls of all racial, religious and ethnic backgrounds in preparation for college preparatory high schools. Our alternative education model incorporates three separate but interrelated programs: a middle school program with extended after-school hours and an extended school year; a mandatory Enrichment Program for students focused on health and wellness; and a Graduate Support Program providing academic support and financial assistance to alumnae.

Newborns in Need, Inc. (NIN) is a 501(c)3 charity organized to take care of sick and needy babies. NIN volunteers provide care necessities to local agencies and hospitals serving premature, ill or impoverished newborns. Newborns In Need distributes items free of charge regardless of race, religion or birth circumstances. Founded upon Christian principles, “NIN” has provided essential items without charge to those in need since 1992.

Sponsored by the Sisters of Divine Providence, Room at the Inn provides emergency shelter and a stabilizing support system to women and families in need in St. Louis County, using a collaborative, interfaith effort of congregations and organizations throughout the St. Louis Region.

Our mission is to heal the spirit, build confidence, and educate those in need so that they may provide a better life for themselves and their children.

ESL Volunteer: The Women In Charge's ESL Program is in need of dedicated individuals in the St. Louis/St. Charles area who are passionate about helping adult immigrants and refugees improve their English language skills and achieve their goals. Teaching experience is a plus, but not required. The classes can be at our office in University City or at a public library/restaurant.

The YWCA of Metropolitan St. Louis, an association of women from diverse backgrounds and faiths, is committed to strengthening our community through the social and economic empowerment of women, the development of youth and the elimination of racism.
