Campbell House Museum

The Campbell House Museum is one of the most historically significant Nineteenth Century buildings in St. Louis. The museum preserves its National Register listed buildings and important collection of original mid-Nineteenth Century Philadelphia furnishings, family possessions, photographs, and archival material as a center for educational and community outreach programming. The museum is dedicated to continually reinterpreting its collections for exploring issues such as; the development of the fur trade, exploration and development of the west, the growth of urban economies, emigration, historic preservation, principles of Victorian interior design, and the urban issues that continue to shape our region today.

Service Opportunities:

- Docents: provide guided tours to Museum visitors. Comprehensive training is provided.

- Garden Volunteers: assist the Museum staff in planting and maintaining the Museum's grounds and gardens.

- Office Volunteers assist the Museum staff with office tasks such as the processing of mailings.

Service Opportunities:

Museum Greeter/Attendant: Museum attendants have the unique opportunity to participate in the development and expansion of museum programs and exhibitions. As the front line of the museum, attendants will be responsible for delivering the museum’s visitor services program. - Student Music Instructor for Beginners Program: To instruct basic instrumental music lessons to inner-city youth as part of the El Sistema St. Louis initiative.

- Early Childhood Movement and Music Instructor: To assist in the coordination of a basic music and movement program for pre-school students using the Delcroze Eurhythmics technique as part of the El Sistema St. Louis initiative.

- Teaching Assistant in Music Theory, History or Musicianship: Actas a teacher's assistant providing one on one learning activities with students having difficulty learning the curriculum of the El Sistema St Louis Program.

- Rehearsal Volunteer: Assist with rehearsals of youth; help with set-up, facilitation, take-down, etc.

- Instrumental Music Educators: A skilled performer with experience working with students age 10-14 will provide one-on-one beginning instrumental training for inner-city students in an after-school environment. Lessons will include basic music literacy and all aspects of music performance on chosen instrument. A systematic pedagogy will be provided to assist the instructor on issues relating to learning models, discipline and the nature of the program. Assistance will also be provided to guide the instructor in dealing with the special issues often associated with the population.

As the nonprofit partner to the St. Louis Aquarium at Union Station, the Aquarium Foundation engages individuals through access, conservation and education programs, building powerful communities for water stewardship.

- Volunteer Ambassador: The Volunteer Ambassador role enhances the guest experience in the Aquarium by volunteers interacting directly with guests. This includes stations such as the Artifact Cart or the Stingray Touchpool, educating and interacting with guest by giving information about the animals and artifacts.

- Education Volunteer: The Education Volunteer role assists education staff with class instruction over a variety of themes/topics. YourWords STL uses one-on-one tutoring, creative writing workshops, and collaborative writing projects to amplify the voices of St. Louis youth. We believe we can change St. Louis by empowering young people to tell their stories. Part of our mission is to provide a sense of consistency and security for these students by recruiting passionate, committed tutors and volunteers who are dedicated to attending every weekly session.

Service Opportunities:

Volunteer Tutor: YourWords STL uses one-on-one tutoring, creative writing workshops, and collaborative writing projects to amplify the voices of St. Louis youth. We are seeking volunteer tutors over the age of 21 who are willing to commit to 75-minutes weekly tutoring sessions. All tutoring will take place via Zoom video conferencing.
