Uy Elected to NACUA Board of Directors

Saint Louis University’s Vice President and General Counsel Danielle Uy has been elected as a member-at-large to the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA) Board of Directors.

Uy’s term began in June. She will serve a three-year term.

Uy has served as an attorney at Saint Louis University since 2008 and was named as Vice President and General Counsel in October 2021.

Her areas of responsibility include litigation management, employment law and labor relations. Prior to joining the Office of the General Counsel, Uy served as a law clerk to the Hon. Jean C. Hamilton, U.S. District Court, E.D., Missouri, and worked as an associate in the business litigation group at Thompson Coburn, LLP.  

Uy is a graduate of Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations and Washington University School of Law. As a NACUA member, she has served on the membership and member services, web page legal resources, continuing legal education and strategic planning committees.

She is currently serving as a member of the Committee on Program for Annual Conference.

In May, Uy was honored by Missouri Lawyers Media with a Women’s Justice Award. The Corporate Award is given to women who serve as “general or in-house counsel, advising businesses on complex legal matters.” 

The NACUA’s purpose is to “enhance legal assistance to colleges and universities by educating attorneys and administrators as to the nature of campus legal issues.” Its mission is a commitment to “practicing and promoting the core values of quality, service, civility, collegiality, diversity, inclusiveness and respect.”

It has an equally important role to play in the continuing legal education of university counsel. In addition, NACUA produces legal resources, offers continuing legal education programming, maintains a listserv (NACUANET) and a variety of member-only web-based resources pages, and operates a clearinghouse through which attorneys on campuses are able to share resources, knowledge and work products on current legal concerns and interests.
