ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis University’s William L. Clay Sr. Institute of Civic Engagement and Economic Justice will host a public conversation, “Every Voice, Every Vote: Exploring Civic Life Across Missouri,” on Monday, Oct. 26. The panel discussion will explore how election laws and civic institutions shape public trust in elections.
The event, hosted in partnership with the SLU/YouGov Poll and the Missouri Humanities Council, will bring together community members, students and civic leaders to discuss how Missourians experience democracy today, including how voters view the fairness and security of elections and consider debates surrounding voter access, election administration, initiative petitions, redistricting and public confidence in democratic institutions.
The conversation will be moderated by Sarah Fenske, executive editor of St. Louis Magazine.
The conversation will include questions posed in the 2026 SLU/YouGov Polls. The polls surveyed 900 likely Missouri voters in February and August about their views on key issues facing state and national governments, evaluations of political actors and upcoming elections.
Panelists will include Jerry Hunter, J.D., chair of the St. Louis City Board of Election Commissioners; Travis Krum, J.D., professor of law at Washington University School of Law; Felicia Hampton, Missouri Voter Protection Coalition; and additional panelists.
The Clay Institute, housed within SLU’s Center for Social Action, launched in 2025. It offers programming to all students with an interest in civic engagement and democratic participation.
