“Thanks so much to everyone who worked so hard to make SLU’s 200th anniversary special,” Harshman said. “Starting with the Mass at the Arch and concluding with ‘Happy Birthday to SLU’ at Chaifetz Arena, we had the chance to celebrate as a community. Programs and exhibits provided opportunities to showcase our academic programs, talented faculty, and our mission.”

University President Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D. praised Harshman's leadership and efforts during the bicentennial celebrations.

“On behalf of the entire Saint Louis University community, I would like to thank Dr. Harshman for her deep dedication to SLU," Pestello said. "Her work leading the Bicentennial Committee resulted in the great success of all the events celebrated during our 200th year. These varied activities truly showcased and honored all that Saint Louis University represents.”

Harshman noted that there were fun events throughout the celebration for everyone who wanted to participate. And, in total, thousands of SLU family and friends took part in the bicentennial events and activities.

With the bicentennial project formally concluding, the former provost and business school dean is retiring from SLU for a second time.

“It has been a great experience to be part of the celebration of this wonderful university and all the people who have made it so,” she said.
