Proposals Sought for Jesuit Student Research Symposium

Proposals are now being sought for the fifth annual Jesuit Student Research Symposium which will be held Friday, April 26, at the Jesuit Archives and Research Center, 3920 West Pine Boulevard.

The theme for this year’s symposium, “Jesuits and American Culture,” will explore the history of Jesuit engagement with, and influence on, American culture 

Undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines and universities are invited to submit a proposal for a 20-minute presentation. Submissions may include papers and other appropriate presentations on the theme of Jesuits and American culture.

Presentations can address any time or discipline including, but not limited to, history, music, theater, science, higher education and exploration.

Proposals should be no more than 250 words and will be accepted by the selection committee on a rolling basis. All proposals will be acknowledged by a response within two weeks of submission. The final deadline for submissions is Friday, March 1, 2019. For further advice and sources, please contact jarcadmin@jesuits.org.  

The event is hosted jointly by the Jesuit Archives and Research Center and Saint Louis University’s Office of Mission and Identity and Department of History.

All undergraduate and graduate students at SLU or any other university, college or seminary are invited to apply.
