The Atlas Program brings together members of the University community to focus on the global challenges that confront us in the 21st century. The theme of this year's event was "From the Ashes: Rebuilding the Global Scene in the World of COVID-19" and will focus on global issues as they pertain to creating a more equitable global society following the multiple disparities made evident across the globe due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Overall Atlas Week 2022 was a great success and I was happy to bring it back on campus after 3 years," said Luella Loseille, assistant director for Diversity and Inclusion and Atlas Program coordinator. "My student team of Atlas interns, ambassadors, and volunteers worked hard in creating the best experience possible."

This year's edition of Atlas Week featured events planned throughout the week, including discussions on #OccupySLU, refugees and how COVID-19 handled. Atlas Week also had the traditional Parade of Nations and the Billiken World Festival to close out the week.

Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein delivered the keynote address titled “Global Challenges to Human Rights Today.” Al Hussein is the former United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. He has long been an outspoken critic of fascism, religious fanaticism, and threats to civil liberties.

"The variety of events that members of the SLU community organized were some of the best in recent years," Loseille said. "I'm looking forward to Atlas 2023."

An archive of recorded Atlas Week 2022 events, including a recording of the Signature Symposium keynote address delivered by Prince Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, is now available online on the Atlas webpage. The recording of the Signature Symposium will be available until this Friday, April 15.
