Guest Artist Gaby Rodriguez to Direct SLU Theatre and Dance Production of Our Town
Gaby Rodriguez, a director, dramaturg, teacher, and storyteller from Santiago de Cuba, will direct the upcoming SLU Theatre and Dance production of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town."
Rodriguez has directed at Asolo Repertory Theatre, Theatre Nuevo, and The Center of Creative Arts in St. Louis, TheatreWorks USA, The University of Oklahoma, Webster Conservatory, and Piknik Theatre Company. As an Assistant Director, she has worked at Great River Shakespeare Festival in Minnesota, at The Repertory Theatre of STL, and at Theatre Under the Stars in Houston, TX.
She has also worked as a translator and educator in multiple theaters, including the MUNY, Asolo Rep, and Metro Theatre Company. Her work focuses on adapting classic stories for today and she has a passion for bringing more Latin representation to the stage. She is currently the Community Engagement Associate at Asolo Repertory Theatre.
Our Town will be performed Thursday, Nov. 16 to Sunday, Nov. 19 in the Xavier Hall Main Stage Theatre. This production is sponsored by SLU alum Marianne Muellerleile, though her membership in the Friends of Theatre and Dance program.
Auditions and technical interviews for SLU Theatre & Dance productions are open to all SLU students and faculty. For the two fall productions, these will take place Wednesday, August 23 and Thursday, August 24 in Xavier Hall. Season tickets for the 2023-2024 SLU Theatre and Dance season are on sale now. Season ticket holders can mix and match performance days for a discounted price. The 2023-2024 season will consist of four main-stage productions.
