1818 Community Engagement Grants Now Open
The 2023-2024 cycle for the 1818 Community Engagement Grant Program has launched.
Each year, the program awards 18 grants of up to $1,800 each to groups of students and faculty, in partnership with a local non-profit, to make a positive impact on the community.
This year's program is being fully funded by a donation from Lux Living St. Louis.
Past projects have included the development of a resource booklet for girls and families as part of the First Period Project; incorporating trauma-informed care into agencies’ service to clients; providing vision screenings and eyeglasses to individuals living at homeless shelters; and planting pollinator gardens at local elementary schools to teach children about the importance of bees among other projects.
Started in 2018, the 1818 Community Engagement Grant program celebrates the more-than-200-year history of Saint Louis University working with the community to help make a positive difference. 2020's grants assisted nearly 3000 individuals in the St. Louis community, despite barriers with COVID-19.
