SLU to Co-host the 2024 Summit for Water Focused on Water Security in the Mississippi River Basin

04/05/2024

Saint Louis University’s WATER Institute and the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center are hosting the 2024 SLU Summit for Water: Water Security in the Mississippi River Basin.

Join leaders and experts from academia, industry, nonprofits and government at the SLU Summit for Water to share ideas, learn about the latest research, and tackle some of the most critical and persistent challenges facing our most fundamental resource: water. The fifth annual SLU Summit for Water will focus on water security in the Mississippi River Basin, engaging stakeholders across sectors and disciplines to join the WATER Institute’s mission of advancing water innovation to serve humanity.

The Mississippi River Basin is one of the most consequential river systems in the United States and the world due to its environmental, social and economic impacts. The basin is threatened, however, by climate change, pollution and the continued increasing demands on water resources across the region. This year’s summit will include panels and presentations on the following topics: securing healthy ecosystems, drinking water and human well-being, water-related hazards and climate change, economic activities and development and historical and cultural perspectives across the river.

The WATER Institute will host the 2024 Summit for Water on Thursday, April 18 (in person), and Friday, April 19 (virtually), focusing on water security in the Mississippi River Basin and engaging stakeholders across multiple sectors and disciplines.

The first day of the summit, April 18, will be hosted in person at Saint Louis University's Midtown campus and will feature panels, networking opportunities, a keynote address and more. The second day of the summit, April 19, will be hosted virtually and feature faculty and student research presentations.

The summit is free to attend, but registration is required.
