My Top 10 Dining Spots at SLU

by Marybeth Hercules

Curious about dining options at SLU? Marybeth breaks down her top picks across campus.

When I was looking at colleges, one of my biggest questions was: what is dining like on campus? I wanted to know everything — Is the food good? Will I have lots of options? Am I going to get tired of eating the same thing every day?

At SLU, I quickly realized that wasn’t something I needed to worry about. Here are my top 10 dining spots on SLU’s campus:

1. Simply To Go

With locations in both the Busch Student Center and Fusz Hall, Simply to Go is perfect for students who are constantly on the move like me. On weekdays, the Fusz Hall location, which is in the Billiken’s Lair food court, often features dining pop-ups, adding even more variety while still offering quick, grab-and-go meals.

2. Grand Dining Hall

Grand Dining Hall, located in Grand Hall, is easily one of my favorite options on campus. It’s perfect if you want something simple but also like having the option to try new foods. With a wide range of offerings, Grand Dining Hall makes it easy to find something you’re in the mood for.

3. Fresh Gatherings Cafe + Farm

Located on South Campus, Fresh Gatherings Cafe + Farm is a must-try for your SLU bucket list. This unique, student-run dining spot is operated by the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, and it features fresh, rotating daily specials. This eatery has two locations on South Campus: one in the Allied Health Building and one in the Education Union.

Panera Bread, known locally as St. Louis Bread Co., is a hometown favorite that started right here in St. Louis. Located in the Busch Student Center, it’s a go-to spot for everything from soups and salads to sandwiches and pastries.

8. Subway

A classic option located in the Billiken’s Lair in Fusz Hall, Subway lets you build your own sandwich just the way you like it. Even better, Subway (along with a few other campus eateries) offers meal swipe exchanges Monday through Thursday evenings, perfect for mixing up your routine.
