SLU Student Veterans Association

Transitioning from military service into academic life or a civilian career can bring new opportunities as well as new challenges. Having a community of people who understand your experience can make that transition easier.

The Saint Louis University Student Veterans Association (SVA) brings student veterans together to build community, develop professional connections and stay involved with life at SLU. Through monthly meetings, campus activities and service opportunities, the SVA provides a place for student veterans to connect with one another and build relationships that extend beyond the classroom.

Whether you're a veteran returning to school, a student who recently completed military service or someone interested in learning more about military service, the SVA offers opportunities to get involved, meet other students and connect with members of the broader St. Louis veteran community.

SLU SVA Goals

The SLU Student Veterans Association works to:

  • Build professional networks. Connect student veterans with former military leaders and other professionals who can support career exploration and professional development.
  • Raise awareness. Help increase awareness of issues affecting veterans within the SLU and St. Louis communities.
  • Build campus community. Promote Billiken pride and encourage student veterans to participate in social events, campus activities and the broader SLU community.
  • Provide mentorship. Offer mentorship and connections to students who are interested in military service as well as those who have completed military service.
  • Serve the community. Volunteer and collaborate with other veteran organizations throughout the St. Louis area.

Join the SLU SVA

Becoming a member is easy. If you are a Saint Louis University student, you're welcome to get involved by attending an SVA event or monthly meeting. Monthly meetings are held at Veterans Commons in Busch Student Center, Room 244.

Whether you're looking for a community on campus, interested in mentorship, hoping to expand your professional network or simply want to meet other student veterans, the SVA is a place to connect and get involved.
