One-Time Volunteer Opportunities

Saint Louis University’s Center for Social Action promotes many forms of community engagement, from episodic service to more in-depth involvement. This list of one-time volunteer opportunities will help SLU students make a difference based on your schedule and interests.

Who: HOMEWORKS! - Teacher Home Visits
What: Volunteers are needed for a a Family Dinner at Fairview Elementary, helping with registering families at the event, serving dinner and signing families up for a home visit.

Who: City Garden Montessori (SLU-sponsored charter school)
What: Volunteers are needed for our Day of Giving fundraiser, helping with various activities at the school over a 24 hour period.
When: Anytime 11 a.m. - 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 17; anytime 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Thursday, April 18

What: Volunteers are needed for our Small Steps Therapy Program for children with Down syndrome ages 3-8, helping them with activities and exercises.

Who: Sherwood Forest Camp for Persons with Disabilities
What: Volunteers are needed for our Volunteer Trades Weekend, where trades professionals come to work on physical improvements around the camp, to get it ready for the summer. Assist with either maintenance projects, or cooking/serving meals to the participants.
When: Friday, April 19-21 - volunteers can come for the whole weekend or just the day on Saturday.

Who: Earthday 365
What: Volunteers are needed for our George Washington Carver Farms Day of Action, cleaning up the neighorhood around the community garden. Tools and gloves provided.
When: 2-3 shifts anytime 6:30 a.m. - 8 p.m., Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21
