One-Time Volunteer Opportunities
Saint Louis University’s Center for Social Action promotes many forms of community engagement, from episodic service to more in-depth involvement. This list of one-time volunteer opportunities will help SLU students, faculty or staff make a difference based on your schedule and interests. Many are perfect for groups.
May/Summer
Tower Grove Park
What: Volunteers are needed for Plant It Forward, a biannual campaign that engages the
community in helping to maintain the beautiful display beds in Tower Grove Park. In
addition to providing necessary work for the park, volunteers will learn firsthand
the types of plants in our display beds, how to tend to these plants, and take some
plants home each volunteer day.
When: 9 a.m. - 11 a.m., May 12, 14, 19, 21, 26 and 28

Gateway Bleeding Disorders Foundation
What: Volunteers are needed for our Taste of Tequila, Splash of Charity fundraising event,
helping with all aspects.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
What: Volunteers are needed for the annual Gateway Great Strides in support of those living
with cystic fibrosis. Help with all aspects of the walk/run!
When: Anytime 6:30 a.m. - Noon, Saturday, May 16

Gateway Down Syndrome Association
What: Volunteers are needed for our therapeutic playgroup sessions with youth ages 3-8
who have Down syndrome, helping with games, therapies and other activities.

St. Louis Children's Hospital Cerebral Palsy Sports Program
What: Volunteers are needed for the annual Cerebral Palsy Family Day, an event for families
of children with motor disabilities to enjoy the Missouri Botanical Garden. Assist
with activities, educational sessions, monitoring play areas, and more!
When: Anytime 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., Sunday, June 7

What: Volunteers are needed for our Camp Independence - help with our summer day camp,
engaging children with Cerebral Palsy in a variety of activities, sports, and other
educational and recreational programming.

What: Volunteers are needed for the American Council of the Blind National Conference,
