Student Leadership in Honors

Student leadership is central to the Saint Louis University Honors Program. From welcoming new students to planning events, mentoring peers, and building campus traditions, Honors student leaders play a vital role in shaping the community. Through organizations like the Honors Student Association (HSA) and the Path Mentor Program, students help create programming, strengthen connections, and ensure every Honors student feels a sense of belonging.

Honors Student Association (HSA)

The Honors Student Association (HSA) is one of the primary ways students shape the Honors experience. As a chartered student organization, HSA works closely with Honors staff to plan social, educational, and service programming that reflects the interests and values of the community.

All Honors students are automatic members of HSA. Students interested in taking on a larger leadership role can serve on the HSA Executive Board, a team of six student leaders who guide programming, represent the student voice, and help strengthen Honors culture.

HSA Executive Board

The Executive Board includes the following leadership positions:

  • President
  • Vice President of Education
  • Vice President of Finance
  • Vice President of Community & Publicity
  • Vice President of Social
  • Vice President of Service

Together, these student leaders collaborate with Honors staff and fellow students to create meaningful programming and maintain a strong, connected Honors community.

Path Mentor Program

The Path Mentor Program is both a cornerstone of the first-year Honors experience and a major leadership opportunity for returning students. Path Mentors support incoming students as they transition to college life and begin their Honors journey.

Mentors guide small cohorts of first-year students through academic advising, community-building activities, and wellness programming. They help students navigate Honors requirements, connect with peers, and discover opportunities across campus.

Serving as a Path Mentor allows returning Honors students to develop leadership, communication, and mentorship skills while helping shape the culture and traditions of the program.

Path Student Coordinators and More

Each year, two student Path Coordinators work alongside Honors staff to support and guide the team of Path Mentors. Together, Path Coordinators and Path Mentors help welcome new students, facilitate programming, and ensure that every incoming Honors student feels supported and connected from their first days on campus.
