Departmental Purchases

Saint Louis University departments are eligible to receive certain software and hardware discounts. These discounts vary based on special promotions from each company, and each vendor has specific ways to receive SLU's discount.

Hardware Discounts

Saint Louis University has worked with both Apple Inc and Dell Inc. to offer SLU students, faculty and staff  discount pricing on laptop and desktop computers. Benefits may include:

  • Prices extended to SLU students, faculty and staff for personal purchases
Apple Discounts

Saint Louis University and Apple Inc. offer SLU students, faculty and staff Apple for Education discounts. This partnership allows the SLU community to take advantage of special discount pricing on Apple laptops, desktops and mobile devices.

Dell Discounts

Saint Louis University and Dell Inc. offer the Dell Premier Partnership to SLU students, faculty, and staff.  SLU departments may purchase, at significant discounts, any of the laptop or desktop configurations customized for SLU. 

Departmental business managers have access to all standard machines through the Billiken Buy system. Within this agreement, University faculty, staff, and students can visit dell.com/SLU to purchase personal equipment at a reduced price as well.

FAQ About SLU Hardware Discounts

Who can purchase from this agreement?
Departmental business managers have access to all standard machines through the Billiken Buy system. Within this agreement, University faculty, staff,and students can visit dell.com/SLU to purchase personal equipment at a reduced price as well.
How do I place an order?

Preferred Method

Once the model has been selected, the department business manager is able to order from the Billiken Buy system on the mySLU Tools tab. Devices will be shipped to the University. ITS will ensure that machines are fully functional before delivering them to their respective destinations.

Other Method

For Apple: Obtain a quote by contacting kmatthews@apple.com or by calling 314-977-4000, the ITS Service Desk, to request a new quote. Please Note: When requesting a quote, please request the four-year AppleCare warranty. 

For Dell: Obtain a quote by contacting Michelle M. Thomas at michelle.m.thomas@dell.com or by calling 314-977-4000, the ITS Service Desk, to request a new quote. Your department business manager will then be able to upload the quote into the Billiken Buy system to complete a customized order. 

How do I purchase an item that is not specifically listed through the Billiken Buy site?
Some items are available for purchase through requisition/purchase order only directly from the manufactures information pages, click here for Apple information or click here for Dell information.
How do I allow for special delivery instructions?
Delivery details should be noted on the order form.
What are my options for support?
Pricing for the standard desktop configurations includes a three-year or four-year warranty, most come with next-business-day service. Conventional laptop systems include a three-year warranty. Call 314-977-4000 and the ITS Service Desk will send a technician to visit and assess the problem. If a warranty support call needs to be made, the tech will make the service request with appropriate manufacturer support.

 

Software Discounts

Adobe - Departmental Purchases

As a member of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU), Saint Louis University is eligible for discounted pricing on Adobe products purchased from Logisoft and CDWG.

Orders to Logisoft should be placed in Banner using vendor #000369420. CDWG orders can be placed on the P-card site. Questions regarding applications, part numbers, system requirements, price quotes, etc. should be directed to one of our sales representatives:

To install your new Adobe software, you will need the software CDs and a serial number. Please contact the IT Service Desk at 314-977-4000 or helpdesk@slu.edu.

Atlas Ti - Departmental Purchases

Each computer will need its own yearly subscription:

  • This year's dates are Feb. 5, 2018-Feb. 4, 2019, regardless of your actual date of purchase
  • The price is $85

Obtaining Atlas Ti for a University Device

  • Payment of the $85 per license can be made through eSeeIDO under the "Finance" tab in Banner
    Service Type is ITS- Other: Software
    Contact: FRAZERMM
  • In the IDO, indicate this is for Atlas Ti licenses and please provide computer names for each of the machines for which a license is needed and the contact person for the device
  • Upon proper receipt of the IDO, an ITS Service Ticket will be entered in for the devices.
    ITS will install or update the license through the Software Center on the named computers.

SAS - Departmental Purchases

The University has purchased a set number of SAS licenses that ITS is able to resell to University departments. These licenses are purchased on an annual basis.

Each computer will need its own yearly subscription.

Version

  • SAS 9.4 for 64-bit PC only

License Dates & Price

The yearly license dates are Aug. 1-July 31 the following year, regardless of your actual date of purchase. The price is $145 for an individual license. The following bulk rates apply:

  • 10-19 machines: $140 per license
  • 20-29 machines: $135 per license
  • 30-39 machines: $130 per license
  • 40+ machines: $125 per license
  • Server License: $600 per server

When using the bulk rate discounts, departments will be responsible for providing all information at the time of purchase. All machine names, customer names, and contact information must be provided during the initial submission. Standing IDOs or add-ons will not be accepted. If additional machine licenses must be purchased at a later date, then individual licenses or a smaller bulk rate will be used.

Obtaining SAS for a University Device

Payment for the total number licenses can be made through eSeeIDO under the "Finance" tab in Banner.

Service Type is ITS- Other: Software

In the IDO, please indicate this is for SAS licenses and provide computer names for each of the machines for which a license is needed as well as a contact person for each machine
Upon proper receipt of the IDO, an ITS Service ticket will be created for the machines ITS will install or update the SAS license through the Software Center on the named computers.

Please ensure that machine SAS is to be installed on is a Windows 64-bit machine. No software or licenses are available for 32-bit machines.

Software for University machines must be pushed out through the Software Center. Local installations are not available due to the size of the install files.

 SPSS for Departmental Purchases

The University has purchased a set number of SPSS licenses that ITS is able to resell to University departments. These licenses are purchased on an annual basis.

License Dates & Price

The annual license dates are Aug. 1-July 31 the following year, regardless of your date of purchase. University-owned and managed devices can have a free license. The price is $85 for a personal license.  The following bulk rates apply:

  • 10 - 19 machines: $82.50 per license
  • 20 - 29 machines: $80 per license
  • 30 - 39 machines: $78.50 per license
  • 40+ machines: $75 per license

When utilizing the bulk rate discounts, departments will be responsible for providing all information at the time of purchase. All machine names, customer names and contact information must be provided during the initial submission. Standing IDOs or add-ons will not be accepted. If additional machine licenses must be purchased at a later date, then individual licenses or a smaller bulk rate will be used.

Obtaining PSS for a University Device

Please call 314-977-4000 and speak with a Service Desk rep. to put in a service request
ITS will install or update the license through the Software Center on the named computers.

Please ensure the machine is connected to the University network during the installation or update. Software for University machines must be pushed out from the Software Center. Local installations are not available due to the size of the installation files.

Departmental Purchases for a Persoanl Device

Payment for the total number of licenses can be made through eSeeIDO under the "Finance" tab in Banner.
