For the sixth consecutive year, Saint Louis University has been recognized as one of the nation’s best values in higher education by U.S. News & World Report, which released its 2022 Best Colleges undergraduate rankings on Sept. 13.

In addition to being ranked as one of the country’s best values in higher education, SLU also was recognized for excellence in teaching, ranking No. 58 among national universities for Best Undergraduate Teaching in the magazine’s 2022 Best Colleges guide.

For the sixth consecutive year, Saint Louis University has been recognized as one of the nation’s best values in higher education by U.S. News & World Report, which released its 2022 Best Colleges undergraduate rankings on Sept. 13.

U.S. News determines best value by comparing a school’s academic quality and its net cost of attendance. At SLU, 90% of all students receive financial assistance, and the University offers scholarship programs recognizing academic merit, financial need and diversity, among other areas.

In the overall rankings, SLU remained No. 103 among nearly 400 national universities. U.S. News defines national universities as those that offer a full range of undergraduate majors, as well as master's and doctoral degrees, with many schools placing a strong emphasis on research.

SLU is a comprehensive research university where students at all levels can work alongside some of the nation’s premier researchers and scholars who are tackling today’s most pressing issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic and its broader effects.

SLU also was recognized for excellence in teaching this year, ranking No. 58 among national universities for Best Undergraduate Teaching. SLU has a 9 to 1 student-faculty ratio, so students benefit from personalized attention from nationally recognized teachers, researchers and mentors.

U.S. News introduced a new ranking category this year. For the first time, the magazine published Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) rankings. SLU’s undergraduate nursing program was ranked No. 43 out of 694 total programs in the United States — placing the program in the top 7% nationally.

These honors from U.S. News come on the heels of other news for Saint Louis University. In June, SLU wrapped up its third most successful fundraising year ever, and last month, the University welcomed its second-largest freshman class in history.

Founded in 1818, Saint Louis University is one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious Catholic institutions. Rooted in Jesuit values and its pioneering history as the first university west of the Mississippi River, SLU offers more than 12,000 students a rigorous, transformative education of the whole person. At the core of the University’s diverse community of scholars is SLU’s service-focused mission, which challenges and prepares students to make the world a better, more just place.
