Public Safety Hosting Car Wash, Barbecue Benefit

08/01/2019

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is hosting a benefit car wash and barbecue cook out from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug, 5, on the Fred Weber parking lot adjacent to Chaifetz Arena.

The day benefits the Special Olympics and the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention.

Car washes are $5 per vehicle. Fresh barbecue can be enjoyed for $7.

DPS has a tradition of supporting both the Special Olympics and mental health and wellness initiatives. Chief Jim Moran and a number of officers and staff members have taken part in the Special Olympics’ “Polar Plunges” in recent years to raise funds for the organization.

Officers from DPS have also taken the lead recently to bring miniature therapy horses to campus to help students cope with finals stress. The department also regularly hosts “De-Stress with DPS” events.
