About the Revised Policy

Title IX Sexual Harassment Policy (Formerly titled Sexual Misconduct Policy 7.0)

In November 2018, the US. Department of Education (DOE) released a Notice of Proposed Rule Making and began the public comment and revision process in order to formalize a new regulation governing Title IX. On May 6, 2020, the DOE released this Final Rule with an implementation date of August 14, 2020. The Sexual Misconduct Policy 7.0 has been revised to incorporate this new federal law and is now called the Title IX Sexual Harassment Policy 8.0.

Please note that the majority of changes made were done so in order to remain in compliance with federal law and were done in collaboration with the Title IX Policy Review Committee, a group comprised of students, faculty and staff.

This policy applies to all forms of sexual harassment, including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, gender-based stalking, as well as retaliation by or against University community members of any gender, gender identity, gender expression or sexual orientation (collectively referred to as Prohibited Conduct).
