Conversations

The Center regularly hosts conversations and facilitated discussions on a wide range of pedagogical topics. Conversations may be offered in a series or as single discussions.

Typically, they are held as brown bag sessions, facilitated by SLU faculty. However, facilitated discussions on teaching also can be requested by departments or programs, as part of a departmental retreat, curricular planning session, and/or a larger unit-level educational initiative. (Note: unit-level discussions of this sort depend upon the goals of the conversation, as well as on the availability of Center resources.)

In recent years, the Center has hosted Conversations on Teaching series on the topics such as: Writing to Learn, Ignatian Pedagogy, and Service Learning. Other recent topics of conversation include: teaching large classes, working with international students, and designing learner-centered curricula.
