Moving is exciting — and stressful. Knowing that, Saint Louis University tries to make the process of moving to and from campus as easy as possible.
If you’ll be returning to campus housing next year, you can even arrange to leave your packed items in your room at the end of the semester and find them waiting for you next fall in your new room.
Important Housing Dates and Times
International Student Move-In

|Residence Halls Open||
January 22, 2021, halls open at 9 a.m.
Testing will occur January 2 - 27 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Simon Recreation Center and is required of all residential students. You can select your testing date and time through this registration link. After you receive a negative test, you will be given proof of that result, which will allow you entry to your on-campus residence.
Those who have tested positive for COVID-19 during the 90 days prior to returning to campus are not required to get tested on campus again. However, you must come to the Simon Recreation Center during testing hours with written proof of your positive test. Providing this information will permit students to move into their assignment for the spring semester.
Even students who remained on campus over the winter break are required to be tested during the January 22 - January 27 window. This will allow our campus community to feel confident that we have done our best to assure our residence halls are free from COVID-19 as we bring all students back to campus.
For residents who must return to campus after 5 p.m., you must check in at your front desks (where applicable) before moving back into your assignment. You will be allowed to enter the building but are restricted to your assignment for the evening and then must get tested first thing the following day. Students who return to campus after January 27 must contact the Student Health Center to complete testing prior to moving back into their housing assignment.
If you are new to on-campus housing for the spring semester, you are able to have two guests help you with your move in process over a two hour time-block. If you are a returning student, the guest policy is still in effect.

Access During Breaks
For the 2020-2021 academic year, please note that Grand Hall, Fusz Hall, Reinert Hall and DeMattias Hall all close for Thanksgiving break, winter break, and spring break. Spring Hall, Marguerite Hall, the Griesedieck Complex (Griesedieck, Walsh and Clemens), and all on-campus apartments will remain open for breaks.
Students will not be permitted to enter closed buildings during breaks and must make housing arrangements with family or friends during these times. Students will be able to leave their belongings in the room during break periods, but they may not reside in the space.
You are expected to leave your room or apartment in as good or better condition than it was found. Failure to clean your space appropriately will result in charges, as will any damage. All personal effects must be removed, and failure to do so will also result in additional fees. SLU is not responsible for abandoned personal property.
Meet with your resident adviser before your move, then choose either the regular or express methods of checkout.
Regular checkout: Check out of your room with any resident adviser from your building, using the room or apartment condition inventory form on file.
Express checkout: Place your key in an express checkout envelope and turn it in at your building’s service desk. Your room or apartment condition inventory form will be reviewed after you leave by housing and residence life staff. When using the express checkout option, you implicitly accept that review.
Cleaning the space upon move-out is the responsibility of everyone in the room or suite. To leave your room in the best condition possible, take the following steps:
