07/21/2026- The new center will advance geospatial research and foster collaboration that addresses societal challenges locally and globally. The center integrates emerging technologies such as GeoAI, quantum sensing, and advanced analytics to convert data into actionable insights and impact.
07/15/2026- Enbal Shacham, Ph.D., professor of Behavioral Science and Health Equity, has been named to the FOCUS St. Louis 51st Leadership St. Louis (LSL) class. Leadership St. Louis is a program for experienced leaders who have demonstrated a deep commitment to improving the St. Louis region, according to FOCUS St. Louis. Shacham was one of 57 people selected to take part in the 2026-27 class.
07/13/2026- When an urgent call for help came from the people of an impoverished Peruvian mining town, Saint Louis University answered. The residents of La Oroya, frustrated that no one believed their claims about pollution, sought rigorous scientific research to prove their case to the world. A 2005 study from Saint Louis University would document the elevated levels of toxic metals found in the blood of the children of La Oroya, helping to bring global attention to the plight of the people of the town.
07/02/2026- Saint Louis University Professor of Pediatrics Ajay Jain, M.D., has earned the St. Louis Metropolitan Medicine Award of Merit. The St. Louis Metropolitan Medicine Society recognized Jain for his national leadership in pediatric gastroenterology and nutrition, excellence in research and clinical innovation, and advancing pediatric care, physician leadership, and organized medicine.
06/11/2026- Diana B. Carlin, Ph.D., professor emerita of communication at Saint Louis University and an expert on first ladies, penned an essay on Jane Pierce for In Pursuit, a national civic education project that creates lessons from the past for future generations.
06/02/2026- Diana B. Carlin, Ph.D., professor emerita of communication at Saint Louis University, is the 2026 NAFSA International Education Award for Leadership and Collaboration winner. The award given in honor of Cassandra Pyle, honors the contributions of an international educator to international exchange on a global scale.
05/28/2026- Bridget Guerin (A&S ’25) has been selected for the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program. The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries
05/22/2026- Johnson is currently the president of the University of New Orleans and previously served as the executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer at IU Indianapolis. As Saint Louis University’s second-ranking officer, Johnson will work closely with SLU’s president to help shape the University’s long-term direction.
05/21/2026- SLU professor of physics Jean Potvin, Ph.D., has spent years studying the science of whales. Soon, St. Louis residents can hear directly from him. As a part of the Saint Louis Science Center’s new traveling exhibition, The Blue Whale Story, opening this weekend, Potvin is serving as scientist in residence.
