Undergraduate Academic Advising

As a student in SLU's School of Education, you are supported by both an academic advisor and a faculty mentor. Together, they offer comprehensive guidance to help you navigate your program and make the most of your undergraduate experience at Saint Louis University.

Academic Advisor Support

Your academic advisor will:

  • Explain degree requirements and University policies.
  • Assist you in selecting courses that fulfill core and program requirements.
  • Monitor your academic progress and connect you with campus resources.
  • Ensure you remain on track for timely graduation.

Faculty Mentor Support

Your faculty mentor will:

  • Provide guidance related to your major, professional preparation and career pathways.
  • Advise on fieldwork, research, service opportunities and student teaching.
  • Support you in exploring graduate study or professional certification options.
  • Share professional networks and help you build connections in education.

Your Role as a Student

Advising is a collaborative process. To make the most of it, you should:

  • Come prepared to each advising meeting with questions and updates.
  • Review your degree audit and curriculum requirements regularly.
  • Communicate your interests, challenges, and goals openly.
